2023 Rockburn Crimson Peak Pinot Noir

Crimson Peak is Rockburn’s entry to the range – a fresh, fruit-led Pinot that captures the easy charm of Central Otago without the weight or oak of their reserve wines. The fruit comes from a mix of Rockburn’s vineyards across the region, mainly Parkburn and Gibbston, each bringing a different layer of brightness and spice.

The 2023 season was mild and even, giving clean, balanced fruit. Each parcel was fermented separately, with a mix of whole berries and a small portion of whole bunch to build gentle texture, before resting in older French oak.

The wine is juicy and fragrant, full of red cherry and plum with soft tannins and a smooth finish. It’s polished but unpretentious – a straightforward, well-made Pinot that shows Rockburn’s skill at delivering regional character at an easy-drinking level.
